With great sadness, on January 7th, 2024, Nathaniel Lalonde, a beloved son, brother, and friend passed away suddenly at the age of 21. Nathaniel was known for his hard work, kindness, and love for others. Although his physical presence will be deeply missed, his memory will continue to live on in the hearts of many for generations to come.
Nathaniel was the cherished son of Pierre Lalonde and Nathalie Savignac-Lalonde (née Savignac), and the loving brother of Chloé Lalonde (Bradley). He was the grandson of the late Gérald Lalonde, late Francine Lalonde (née Dubord), and late Hélene Savignac (née Gauthier). Nathaniel is survived by his great-grandmother Solange Gauthier (née Beauvais), his grandfather Jean M. Savignac (Denise) and his aunts Chantal Savignac (Steve) and Martine Lalonde. Many of his cousins, Brianne, Mathieu, Cameron, Alexe, Jessica (Mathieu), and Sebastien (Daphné), along with numerous nieces, nephews, and friends, will continue to inspire us to follow in his footsteps of kindness and carry on his legacy of love.
Nathaniel’s love for hockey began at a very young age, and it quickly evolved into a lifelong passion. Throughout his journey, he learned the value of determination, perseverance, and friendship both on ice and off- ice. Nathaniel had the privilege of playing for several teams, including the Sturgeon Sting, North Bay Trappers AAA (NOHL/GNML), Sudbury Wolves AAA (GNML), Powassan Voodoos (NOJHL), Hawkesbury Hawks (CCHL), Rockland Nationals (CCHL), and the West Nipissing Lynx (GMHL). This journey contributed to his growth and development as a player and a person. His hockey career was a testament of the power and passion, hard work, and the unwavering pursuit of one’s dreams.
Not only was he a highly skilled hockey player but he was also a diligent employee at Savignac Woodwork – his family’s business. He was renowned for his exceptional installation skills and was considered one of the top installers in the company. Nathaniel took immense pride in his work, and his meticulous attention to detail and organizational abilities were evident in every project he undertook. He single-handedly completed the Half Moon Bay School project in Ottawa. Nathaniel was also an avid fan of Milwaukee tools and seemed like a brand sponsor for them. Though he is no longer with us, he will always be remembered for his strength, love, and dedication to the community he served.
Nathaniel’s life was full of passion and adventure. He was a social butterfly who loved exploring new hobbies like hunting, sledding, working out, attending car shows, playing golf, and many more. But his true passion was cooking up extravagant meals with the heart of a true chef.
To honour Nathaniel’s life and legacy, a celebration of life will be held on Friday, January 19th, 2024, from 2 pm to 4 pm and 7 pm to 9 pm at Théorêt-Bourgeois Funeral Home Inc, located at 119 King St, Sturgeon Falls, ON. This is a time for those who loved Nathaniel to come together and support each other during this difficult time.
The following day, Saturday, January 20th, 2024, at 11 am, a mass with a lunch will be held at Notre-Dame-des-Victoires Roman Catholic Church, located at 13643 ON-64, Field, ON, to honour Nathaniel’s memory.
