It is with broken hearts and great sadness the family of Helen Irene Mills announce her peaceful passing, on January 23, 2024, surrounded by her loving daughters at Strathmere Lodge at the age of 93. Helen is the beloved and devoted wife of Evan Mills of 73 precious and cherished years. Helen is the dear and caring mom of Mary Lou (Rick) Gough and Lynn (Rick) Denning. Grandma was a title that Helen wore with greatest pride, she was the most special Grandma of Brenna (Chris), Brandon (Lacey), Mary-Lyn (Ben), and Julie-Ann (Dan). Helen’s world lit up when her great-grandchildren arrived, she was the best great-grandma to Blair, Harper, Mila, and Maximus. Helen is survived by her brother Donald Blair.
Helen loved life and she lived her life to the fullest. Helen enjoyed spending her time with her family and friends, creating the best of memories. Her contagious laugh and vibrant soul will be truly missed by all who were blessed to know her.
Helen’s entire family wish to extend gratitude and thanks to each and every person that has provided comfort, words of hope and support during this difficult time. We also wish to extend our thankfulness to the staff at Strathroy Hospital, on 1 south who took great care of her while she was in hospital. The amazing staff at Strathmere Lodge who took care of Helen in her last days with us, we cannot thank you enough for your kindness and care.
Helen’s visitation will be taking place on Friday, January 26th, 2024 from 11:00a.m.-1:00p.m. at DENNING’S OF STRATHROY. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home at 1p.m. The interment will take place at Mount Carmel Cemetery, to follow.
