Paleologou, Irene
Anna Paleologou, 85, of Strathroy, Ontario, passed away on September 28th, 2023, with her family by her side. Anna was born to her parents, Maria and Nickolas on the Island of Mytilene, Greece on February 15th, 1938. She had one sister named Angela who was 7 years older than her. She finished high school and then worked as a seamstress. In 1974, she met Mario Paleologou. Within one week of knowing each other, they were married and moved to Canada. In 1976, they had a daughter named Irene. She was their only child. When she came to Canada she worked as a seamstress for a few years and then worked as a janitor. Anna was known for being strong, hardworking, generous and friendly. She had three beautiful grandchildren, Nikoleta, Mariam and Ilyas. She adored her grandchildren and felt fortunate to have the opportunity to live with her daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren for the past 11 years, since the loss of her husband. She is fondly remembered by many, including her family, for her delicious Greek cookies that she enjoyed baking and sharing with everyone every year. She passed down her recipes for the cookies to her daughter, and they baked them together the past couple of years.
She enjoyed listening to music, reading, watching movies and travelling with her family. She loved animals, especially Coco, the kitten the family most recently brought home. Her and Coco used to take naps together and whenever Anna would read, Coco would sit by her side and keep her company.
She loved flowers, plants and gardening. For many years, at her home with Mario, they used to plant a garden of many different varieties of vegetables and herbs.
Her favorite place to eat was Mandarin. She especially loved the dessert area.
