Horst Kloepper, died peacefully on February 7, 2024 in his home with the comfort and love of his family by his side.
The son of August Wilhelm Raimund Kloepper, and Irene Elfriede Bindrim (Memmel), he was raised by his mother Irene and stepfather Adolf Bindrim. He came to Stratford from Germany in 1960. Horst married the love of his life and best friend Margaret (Shaw) in 1967 and raised their three children Susan, John and Sharon.
Horst retired from FAG after 35 years of service as an electrical engineer, and began the next chapter in his life as an entrepreneur within the greeting card industry. He was one of the founding fathers of the Stratford German Club, (Teutonia Club) where he held numerous roles including President.
Anyone who knew Horst would know he was a rather private gentleman. He did enjoy spending time with family, being in the mountains of Vermont, watching the sunset with Margaret at the lake and also watching Formula One Racing and FIFA Soccer. He truly enjoyed cooking, baking, a nice beer, fine wine and single malt scotch – not necessarily in that order.
Predeceased by his wife Margaret, Horst is survived by daughter Susan Kloepper, son John MacDonald (Susan Baker), daughter Sharon Lockhart (Kenneth Lockhart) and grandson Joshua Lockhart.
It was his wish to be cremated and a private family memorial be held. Donations may be made in memory to the Rotary Hospice Stratford Perth, directly at www.rotaryhospice.ca or through Rutherford Cremation & Funeral Services, 804 Ontario St., Stratford. www.jarfh.com. 519-271-5062
