Obituary
McCracken, Barbara Anne, age 83, of Kingsway Lodge, St. Marys (formerly Stratford) passed away peacefully on November 14, 2023.
Born in Stratford, wife for 60 years of Elgin McCracken and daughter of the late Norman and Mary Pogson. Loving mother of Linda (Claude Plourde), Nancy Seifert (Anthony) and grandmother of Rebecca Dawe (Brendan) and Ryan Seifert. Also survived by sisters Joyce Swan (Richard Alexander), Norma Pogson, sister-in law Lois Pogson, nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by a brother Robert (Bob) Pogson.
She graduated as an RN from Hamilton General Hospital in 1962 and worked at Stratford General Hospital for several years. She was involved with Girl Guides from her youth to volunteering for many years on the local council. She also enjoyed working as an usher at the Stratford Festival, sharing stories of her interesting encounters with patrons.
Her creative passion for sewing and crafting started in her youth and continued throughout her adult life. Barb and Elgin’s home was filled with many of their joint creations of embroidery from clothing to quilts and many other home decor items. Her children and grandchildren looked forward to seeing what new creations would await them on their next visits.
The family extends their gratitude and thanks to the staff at Kingsway Lodge for all the care and compassion extended to Barb.
A celebration of Barb’s life will take place at a later date and will be announced through the funeral home website.
