Obituary of Paul Katsumi Makino
Passed away at St. Peter’s Hospital on Jan. 17, 2024 in his 93rd year. A generous and kind man with a gentle sense of humour, he will be greatly missed by family and friends.
Husband of Ann for 69 years, father of Cynthia (Jeff) and Sandra (Steven). One of 11 siblings: Mary, Sam, Hannah, Grace, Andy, Ruth, Tim and predeceased by John, Joy, and Frank, he will also be missed by the Kawamura family and his many nieces and nephews.
Paul and his family were interned at Slocan and Popoff during WW II. He worked hard all his life, operated his own automotive-parts business and realized his dream to build a cottage at Tobermory where he spent many happy summers. He was an active member of the community, a volunteer firefighter, little-league coach and volunteered countless hours at Winona Gospel Church and Christian Salvage Mission.
Visitation will be held at Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek, on Monday, January 22 1- 4 p.m. Funeral service will be at Winona Gospel Church, 218 Glover Rd., Stoney Creek, on Tuesday, Jan. 23, at 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers donations to Christian Salvage Mission or Grey Bruce Health Services — Lion’s Head would be appreciated.
