Obituary of John Bienker
It is with deep sorrow that we share the news of the passing of John Bienker, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. In his 89th year, John departed peacefully on Saturday, December 14, 2024. Born to Martha and Edward Bienker, beloved brother to Joe (Joyce), June (Ron), Ducksey (Doug), Evelyn (Jack). He is survived by his adoring wife of 63 years, Maria, and will be lovingly remembered as the devoted father of Edward (Tammy), David, Dianne, and Robert (predeceased). Grandfather to his loving granddaughter Alyssa and missed by many friends, with a special mention to Val and Jackie Capretta.
John touched the lives of everyone he met. His loving kindness and generosity were always evident in everything in which he was involved. He loved to start up a conversation with everyone and it would not be long before a new friendship was developed. John retired from Dofasco with 39 years of service as an accountant. His love of music and singing touched everyone who heard it. Both John and Maria were active members of the Dofasco choir for many years until the choir disbanded. Over the years John was a member of many choirs, and his favourite time of year was spreading Christmas joy through beautiful music.
The family extends special gratitude to the staff who cared for John at St. Joseph’s Hospital, both in the emergency department and his health care team from the Mary Grace Wing. A special thank you to nurse Madison for making John’s final moments as peaceful as could be.
A Funeral Mass in honour of John will take place at a later date.
