Jean Merida Bennett
Jean Merida Bennett, born in Windsor Ontario in 1945, passed away suddenly on December 5th, 2024, at Lincoln Memorial Hospital in Grimsby, Ontario. Jean’s life was one of profound dedication, love, and impact.
Predeceased by her parents and her brother, Timothy O’Lett of Ottawa, Jean’s memory will be cherished by her surviving family. She is deeply mourned by her devoted husband, Robert, and her beloved children: Angela Litticoat, Dr. Kimberley Bennett, Wendy Teghmeyer, Rev. Sherry Fugard and Robert J. Bennett. Her legacy lives on through her 12 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren, who brought immense joy to her life.
Jean leaves behind a legacy of knowledge, beauty, and love. A cherished member of the Association of Registered Interior Designers of Ontario (ARIDO) and a proud graduate of McMaster University, Jean dedicated her life to shaping future designers as a respected teacher at both Niagara College and Sheridan College of Design in Interior Design.
Jean’s passion for interior design was matched only by her love for gardening. She found daily joy in her garden, where she could be seen trimming, pruning, and arranging her extensive collection of flowers. Her green thumb and dedication turned her garden into a vibrant sanctuary of colors and scents.
Her love for nature extended beyond her garden to the waters of Lake Ontario. Jean cherished her time walking along the beach, boating, fishing, and kayaking, finding peace and happiness in the serene waters.
Jean’s sudden departure leaves a profound void in the hearts of her family, friends, students, and colleagues. Her legacy lives on through the countless lives she touched, the gardens she nurtured, and the memories she created.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada.
Rest in peace, Jean. Your spirit will continue to inspire and blossom in our hearts.
