It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden, but peaceful passing of our beloved Dad, James (Jim) Merton Mills in his 91st year. He leaves behind Ethel, his beloved lifelong companion of 69 years; his loving daughters Debbie Tunney (Bill); Patti Beatty (Rick); and Cindy Pepper. His cherished grandchildren: Brandon (Rachel); Adam (Sarah); Matthew (Kelsey); Kirstin; and Jacob; and great grandchildren: Landon, Lila, Harper, Aubree, Kenzie, Miller and Miles.
From his humble beginnings Jim always lived life to the fullest; his early days of driving transport, as a devoted husband and father, to having a long-term career with General Motors. He worked hard, played hard and made the most of his retirement years. He pursued travel by all modes of transport and made fabulous memories with close friends and various family members. Whether by air, bus, ship, train, or road trips with a ‘BoBo’ van, his favourite was to see the country from the back of a horse. He loved spending time with his grandkids and was their biggest fan during their pursuit of various sports and supported them with their adult endeavors.
The world has lost an exceptional human being and what he meant to us can never be expressed with words. His memory will live on, and we will celebrate and remember him every single day.
Our family would like to extend our sincerest thanks to Dad’s health care team at the St. Catharine’s General Hospital, especially those who advocated and provided for his comfort in his final days. In addition, we extend our deepest gratitude to all the support staff and PSW’s at Ina Grafton Gage Village for all the love, care and respect they showed our father over the past several years. We will be forever thankful.
