Obituary of Catherine Elizabeth Gretzinger
Catherine (Cathy) Elizabeth Gretzinger age 85, passed away peacefully May 19, 2024. She was born in Niagara Falls Ontario to Flora and Edward Toner. Sister to Anne Freel (Toner) and Alice Steele (Toner) who both predeceased her death. Beloved mother to Sharon Gretzinger (Sherry Bennett (wife)) and Richard Gretzinger. Grandmother to Hailey Bennett, Aunt to many nieces and nephews. All of these she loved and touched deeply.
Catherine grew up in Niagara on the Lake and lived there for many years. She moved to St Catharines where she continued her career as a Charge Nurse and retired after 34 years from the Hotel Dieu Hospital. She had a wonderful way with people and loved helping others. Catherine was a devoted Catholic all her life and loved the Lord. Catherine made time for everyone and preferred hugs to handshakes. She loved all and her life was a living example of one of her favourite Bible verses, Ephesians 4:32 “And be kind and compasssionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as also God forgave you in Christ.”
Family and friends are invited to attend visitation on Thursday May 23rd from 2-4 & 6-8pm and funeral service on Friday May 24th at 11am at George Darte Funeral Chapel, 585 Carlton St. St Catharines.
