Obituary of Bob Allison
Allison, John Robert
Allison, Bob
On Tuesday, May 14, 2024, following a determined and courageous fight with pancreatic cancer, with his girls Christal, Tracey and Bev by his side, Bob found peace. Reunited with his father and mother, Walt and Hilda (Furry) Allison, brother Wally, mother-in-law Reta, and fishing buddy Al. Survived by his daughters Christal (Michael) Stevens, Tracey Noelle Allison, forever friend Bev, sister Nancy (Bob) Secord, grandchildren Clayton and Owen Stevens, Aunt Rene (Peters) and family, cousins, nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and his lifelong American family, the Klaich’s. Bob was Grampy to Beau and Belle, his fur grandkids.
Bob graduated from the University of Windsor with a Bachelor of Science in Pre-Med. He worked for the Ministry of Health as an ambulance attendant, then accepted a job with the Ministry of Labour as an Occupational Health and Safety Inspector. Bob belonged to the Legion and just received the quarter century honour.
Bob’s favourite pastime was spending time with his family, summer fishing trips to Rice Lake, taking his classic car to car shows, golfing, and he loved to travel. He enjoyed going to Oldies concerts since 1984. In recent years, Bob enjoyed drives with Belle, neighbours have fond memories of her sitting in her dog seat beside him.
Bob loved to entertain and was well known for his keen sense of humour, which included his dad jokes, puns, but mostly his one liners. Friends remember Bob as a genuine, kind, funny, reliable, beautiful person who went out of his way to be there for them.
Bob was very proud of his daughters and their accomplishments. Just like Bob they were dedicated, determined, and passionate while striving for perfection. Christal as an athlete, being an amazing mother, and having the biggest, kindest heart. Tracey, who recently graduated with a Masters of Social Work (Clinical) degree and being inducted to the chapter of Mu Omega Phi Alpha Honor Society for her advocacy and academic level. He was very proud of grandsons Clay and Own for their academic and athletic accomplishments. Bob loved oldies music, and was so proud his girls and grandsons shared that love.
Bob’s wishes were to stay in his home with his family by his side. With pancreatic cancer this requires support. Our sincere thanks to the home health care team, Shannon and Georgina (Ontario Home Health Care) and the team of St. Elizabeth nurses, staff at LifeLabs. Friends and neighbours for their prayers, support and meals. Our special gratitude to Marek (Alex), his main nurses, Dave and staff from Samsons Pharmacy, Michelle and Dr, Tim Prince. Your care and support during this difficult time was greatly appreciated by the family.
In honouring Bob’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 21, 2024 from 6 p.m.–7 p.m. at George Darte Funeral Chapel, 585 Carlton St., St. Catharines followed by a funeral service in the ceremony room beginning at 7 p.m. A Celebration of Bob’s Life will be held at a later date. Memorial donations can be made to the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 24, 15 Geroge St. Lower Level, St. Catharines, L2R 5N1 by cheque or dropped at this location.
