MENDES, M. Leona de Jesus (nee Marques) – surrounded by her loving family at the Norfolk Hospital Nursing Home, Simcoe on Saturday, December 21st, 2024 in her 84th year. Beloved wife of Fernando Mendes of Simcoe. Loving mother of Maria Wilson of Newmarket, Isabel Goncalves (Antonio), Silvia Miranda (David) & Jim Mendes, all of Simcoe. Cherished grandmother & great grandmother of Cindy Gomes (Danny), children Jordan & Mason; Phillip Marques (Lily), daughters Brianna & Emma; Sara Fels (Mike), sons Jaxon & Easton; Jessica Goncalves (Brady Lane), son Harry; Marcio Miranda (Mila), son Francesco; Alex Miranda (Shannon), children Milo, Maylyn & Lillian; Katelyn & Tyler Mendes. Sadly missed by siblings Cesaltina Ferreira (Antonio) of Delhi, Albertina Lopes (Joe) of Portugal, the late Maria Marques, Manuel Marques (Grace) and Carlos Marques (Bonnie), all of Simcoe. Lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews & extended family. Friends are invited to share their memories of Leona with her family at the JASON SMITH FUNERAL CHAPEL, 689 Norfolk St. North Simcoe for visitation of Monday, December 23rd, 2024 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. A funeral Mass be held at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, 211 Union St. Simcoe on Tuesday morning at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Fr. Augustine Ogundele officiating. Interment: St. Mary’s Cemetery. Those wishing to donate in memory of Leona are asked to consider the Alzheimer’s Society of Haldimand-Norfolk.
