It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Mary Gladys Leckie (nee Wakefield), age 89, of Sarnia, on Sunday September 15, 2024, at Bluewater Health. Predeceased by her loving husband the late Bruce Leckie. Loving mother of David (Karen) Leckie, Lynn (David) Bailey, and James (Ellen) Leckie. Cherished grandmother of Brian (Christina) Bailey, Kristen (Matthew) Giresi, and Darryl Leckie, and great grandmother to Harvey, James and Wilson Giresi. Mary was born and raised in Plympton-Wyoming. The dear sister to Edith Mellon, Evelyn (Dick) Brock, Janet (Leo) Beernink, and Laurence (Lois) Wakefield. She is predeceased by her parents Howard and Eva Wakefield, and siblings Murray Wakefield, Elizabeth (Tom) Ryan, Jack (Joyce) Wakefield, Margaret (Jack) Brown, and brother-in-law Don Mellon. A memorial service will take place on Monday September 23, 2024, 12:30 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia, with a private interment at Lakeview Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy can be made to Grace United church, Mary’s longtime place of Worship. (cheques only at the funeral home please).
