It is with the heaviest hearts we announce the passing of Marjorie Rae Shymko (nee Hinds) on Friday, July 5, 2024, a couple weeks after her 92nd birthday. Reunited with the love of her life for more than 60 years Eugene Shymko (2011). Deeply loved and remembered by her children Barry (Julie) Shymko, Patty Therrien (Leo, 2022), David Shymko and Debbie Shymko (1959). Loving grandmother of Melanie Stanlick (Andrew), Chad Shymko (Andrea), Lindsay Fortney (Kristofer), Stefanie Nolan (Jessie), Bridgette Heil (Ben), Katie Janzen (Thomas), Gabrielle Pileggi (Anthony), Josh Shymko (Kate), Ben Shymko and proud great-grandma of 13! Marjorie was born in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan to Cecil and Essie Hinds. She was just a young girl when her brothers and father went off to fight in WWII and she and her mom stayed on the home front. In 1950, she and husband Eugene set off for Ontario to start a brand new life for themselves. Marjorie worked at Dominion Grocery Store for many years and made a number of friends through work that she cherished. Over her lifetime, she and Eugene were adventurous and travelled around the world. When they weren’t travelling or spoiling their grandkids they were tending to their beautiful yard and pool in Corunna. She was creative, kind hearted and loved her family fiercely. She will be missed deeply but also celebrated for a life extremely well lived. Special thanks to our friend Rose who spent a lot of time with her and showed so much kindness and compassion, as well as the entire palliative care team at Bluewater Health, Shine at Home, the staff at Fairwinds and everyone who helped her live on her own until nearly 92. Cremation has taken place. A private family service will be held at Lakeview Cemetery. Sympathy may be expressed through donations to Bluewater Health Foundation – Palliative Care (cheques only at the funeral home please). Arrangements entrusted to Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia.
