Obituary of Richard Wesley Wright
Richard (Dick) Wesley Wright (April 6, 1946 – February 20, 2024).
Soft-spoken, kind, gentle, generous, and friend to all, are the first thoughts that will come to mind for most of us when we stop to remember Dick. Generally he could be found spending time with his family, playing golf, watching the Blue Jays, or gathering at the Masonic Lodge. Otherwise, he could be found throughout Ridgetown spreading positivity by stopping to say Hi to anyone he knew in the community. He was well-known for being a past Chief of the Ridgetown Fire Department, as well as the previous co-owner of Total Comfort Heating and Cooling with his dear friend, Henry Vander Griendt.
Richard is now reunited with the love of his life Cora Ann (nee Smith) Wright. He is also predeceased by his parents George Wesley & Alice Loiza (White) Wright, as well has his sisters Marion Osborne (Glen), Ona Gordon (Robert), and Sara Cartwright (Stan).
Left to mourn with me, his daughter Libby, are my children Sean & Megan Wilton, and Kyle Wilton (Sarah Hagerman). We will all make sure that the apple of his eye, his great-granddaughter, Riley, knows how wonderful her G.G. was, and how much joy she brought him. His nephew & best friend, Clayt Osborne, and his wife, Eileen, have been an integral part of my Dad and Mom’s lives. Roy & Lynn Smith are his brother-in-law and sister-in-law who have provided us with unwavering support since my Mom’s passing.
May we all focus on the wonderful memories and experiences we shared over the years with this truly amazing and inspirational man.
A time to bid farewell to Dick will be open to all who wish, at McKinlay Funeral Homes in Ridgetown on Monday, February 26, 2024, starting in the afternoon from 2:00-4:00 p.m and in the evening from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. There will be a private Masonic Lodge service at 5:45 p.m. followed by a walk through by the Ridgetown Fire Department at 7:00 p.m.
Following in Richard’s wishes cremation will take place and his ashes will be interred alongside my Mother’s at the Trinity United Church cemetery privately at a later date.
Any donations in Richard’s memory would be appreciated to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Erie Street United Church.
