Obituary of Elaine Zimmer
ZIMMER: Florence “Elaine” (née McCarter) –
A resident of Chatham, and formerly of Petrolia, Elaine Zimmer passed away at the Meadow Park Nursing Home, with family at her side on Sunday, May 26, 2024 at the age of 85.
Born in Lambton County, Elaine was the daughter of the late Alvin and Florence (née Robinson) McCarter.
Beloved wife of the late Ronald “Ron” Zimmer (2018).
Predeceased by her brother Ross McCarter.
Sister-in-law to the late Doreen, the late Jack (Mary), the late Gary (late Bev), and the late Gord (Merlin).
Loving mother of Jeffrey “Jeff” Zimmer of Chatham.
Proud Grandma of Emily and Brent.
Also missed by friends and extended family.
Elaine worked as a night shift nurse for a number of years at Sarnia General Hospital. Later in life, Elaine stayed home to raise her family. Elaine loved her family, baking, gardening and spending time at their cottage in Point Clark.
As per Elaine’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family interment will be held at Alvinston Cemetery at a later date.
Donations made in memory of Elaine to the Alzheimer Society, Canadian Cancer Society or Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
