Obituary of Bruce Ronald McWhirter

It is with great sadness that the family of Bruce Ronald McWhirter announces his peaceful passing on Friday November 22, 2024 at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance after a 25 year battle with cancer.
Bruce will be remembered by his loving wife Nancy (nee Armstrong), daughter, Ann (John), grandchildren, Austin and Emily (Liam), siblings, John (Joy), Al (Linda), Harold (Alice), Carol (Wayne), Rob (Judy), Nancy
(Jeremy), brother-in laws, Derwyn (Kathy), Dennis (Paula) and special friends Chris and Terry Porter, Sarah and Brent Bechard and girls.
Bruce was adored by his many nieces and nephews.
Bruce was predeceased by his parents, Bill and Gwen McWhirter, in-laws Mary and Doug Armstrong, siblings, Jo-Ann and Keith and brother-in-law, Don Armstrong.
Bruce retired from the Oakville Fire Department after 35 years of Service ending his career as an Assistant Chief Training Officer. Throughout his years, he was active within many hockey & baseball teams throughout Oakville. Bruce will be dearly missed by his family, friends and community.
Special thanks to the staff at Windsor Cancer Clinic and Dr Cervi and the staff at Chatham Progressive Care Unit.
A full Firefighter Service will be held on Saturday, December 14, 2024 at the Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham at 2:00 pm with visiting from 1:00 pm until the Service time. A Private Family Graveside will take place at a later date.
