Olivia “Ollie” O’Malley
(1942-2024)
We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Henrietta “Olivia” O’Malley (nee Turkington) on December 13, 2024. She will be dearly missed by her husband and best friend of 54 years, Peter; her daughter Aisling; nieces Sharyn (Mark), Nicola (Padraic) and Tanya (Paul), their children Sophia, Abbie, Alanna, Dylan and Aaron whom she adored, as well as her bro-in-law Shaun and many family and friends worldwide.
A proud clergyman’s daughter, she is predeceased by her parents, the Very Reverend R.C.H Turkington, Dean of Kilmore (1955-1984) and Kathleen Olivia Turkington, as well as her sister Maureen and brother-in-law, Barry.
Olivia was born in Dublin, Ireland, raised in Cavan and spent her formative years at Alexandra College Dublin. She met Peter at a dance at Old Wesley Rugby Football Club in Dublin, they married and came to Canada in 1970 where they built their life in Richmond Hill.
Olivia or Ollie as she was affectionately known, was a world travelling social butterfly who had a unique gift of the gab. She was an elite conversationalist and storyteller who made friends everywhere she went. She also had a passion for fashion and books. There was no shopping mall, book shop or antique superstore that Ollie couldn’t conquer. She had an outfit for every occasion and she never went anywhere without a spot of lipstick and her iconic red nail polish.
Her loss leaves a huge hole in our hearts, but we will cherish the many memories we made together.
Visitation will be held at Marshall Funeral Home, 10366 Yonge Street, Richmond Hill on Thursday, December 19 from 6 to 8 p.m. A graveside service and burial will take place on Friday, December 20 at 11:30 a.m. at Aurora Cemetery, 14253 Yonge Street, Aurora. Everyone is welcome. For those wishing to attend the graveside service, please meet in the parking lot at Marshall’s Funeral Home at 11 a.m. on Friday to join the procession to the graveyard.
A celebration of life will take place in spring 2025.
