LIBBY, Phillip Ross
December 21, 1939 – December 19, 2023
Phillip passed way peacefully at the Pembroke Regional Hospital surrounded by his family on Tuesday, December 19, 2023. He has shared his life with his loving wife, Mildred (Kauffeldt) for 61 years. Loving father to his sons, Gerald (Jacqueline), Phillip (Michelle), Jonathan (Rita), his daughter, Jennifer (Jeff). He will be missed by his grandchildren, Kyla, Erika, Kristin, Laura, Bethany, Matthew, Kaelynn, Joshua, Jackson, Jacob and his 14 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his grandson, Nathan.
Dad was born on December 21, 1939 to John and Lila Libby on their farm on the Bonnechere River near Deacon. He was the 8th of 9 children. He was predeceased by his parents and his siblings, Macey (Frew), Janet (Wagner), Anne (Wagner), Doris (Ellsworth), John, Agnes (White), and Howard. He is survived by his youngest sibling, Eleanor (Knuth).
Dad worked as a school teacher in one room schools in Renfrew county until 1969. He and his family moved to the Oshawa area where he eventually started to work for the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in Bowmanville for 30 years. Our family lived in the village of Newcastle from 1972 until mom and dad sold their house in 1999. Mom and dad built their retirement home on Tramore Rd just down the road from where dad was born. Dad lived their until the Lord took him home to heaven on December 19, 2023.
We know that dad is in heaven with the Lord who he loved and lived for since his youth. His salvation and hope of heaven rested in the death and resurrection of His Saviour, Jesus Christ. This verse captures what dad’s faith rested in.
“Jesus said, ‘I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life, no one comes to the Father except through Me’” John 14:6
Phillip’s final care has been entrusted to Zohr Family Funeral Home, Killaloe where visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 27, 2023 from 4:00 until 8:00pm. A Funeral Service will be held at the Deacon Gospel Chapel Thursday morning at 11:00am. Spring interment, Paul’s Cemetery, Deacon.
