Frank’s Obituary
Frank Grunewald, age 77, passed away on August 10, 2024, at Riverview Health Centre with his beloved wife Linda by his side.
Frank is survived by wife Linda; twin sons, Sean (Abbey, Bailey, Sam) and Ian (Dan, Tristin). He was Pops to his grandchildren, Bailey and Sam, and their number one hockey fan. He was a special OWM to Tristin and proud of his successes. Frank is also survived by his remaining two sisters, Rosie and Ingrid, both of B.C.; his mother-in-law Yvonne Henry of Winnipeg; many nieces and nephews; and even a few great nieces and nephews all in B.C. He was predeceased by his parents, Gunter and Inge; his sister Heide; younger brother Otto; and his father-in-law Alex Henry.
Frank lived in Red Lake Ontario from the age of 9 until he and Linda moved to Winnipeg in 2018 to be closer to the family.
He was a miner, auto mechanic and diesel mechanic while in Red Lake and retired as a supervisor of underground mechanics at the mine in Red Lake.
Frank had a few passions in his life. Number one was his family, then came fishing. Oh, the stories we can tell. He will be missed at the Red Lake Fall Classic and Emo Walleye Tournament. He also curled and in his younger years played soccer and baseball. In retirement he took up golf and enjoyed it in Red Lake, Florida, Alaska and with the Seniors Men Golf here in Winnipeg.
Frank was also a member of the Red Lake Volunteer Fire Department, Red Lake Legion and the Red Lake District Lions Club.
His big laugh, wonderful smile and kindness will be missed by many.
Celebration of a Life Well Fished to take place in Red Lake on September 18, 2024, at 11:30 am in the Red Lake Legion Lounge.
