Surrounded by the love of her family Vera passed away peacefully Sunday evening. She leaves to join her beloved husband Fred and sons Greg and Ed. Mom will be missed by her children Janet (Bill), Linda (Greg), Alex (Lidia) and daughter-in-law Lynda. Her legacy continues through her growing family. Nana was treasured by her grandchildren Jeffrey (May), Meagan, Timothy, Alexandra, Jason and Leah along with her grandchildren by marriage Andy (Tania), Tanya (Chris), Igor, and Tanya. Truthfully, she was “Nana” to so many more people in her life! Vera is predeceased by her siblings Edith, Walter, Nick, Willie and Alex and remembered by Anne, Archie, nieces, nephews and many friends.
Vera’s passion was her family centered around the table, enjoying meals, laughter, stories and loving support. Her cabbage rolls were enjoyed at many family gatherings. Nana was thrilled to teach some of her grandchildren her skills in preparing perogies and borscht as well.
Vera was five months old when she travelled from Ukraine, grew up in Manitoba on a farm, moved to Toronto, raised her family in Mississauga and enjoyed her golden years on Gull Lake, Minden.
Thanks to the caring staff at Peterborough Regional Hospital over the last six months. Vera’s wishes are to have a private celebration of life and an internment at a later date. Online condolences may be made at AshburnhamFuneral.ca
