Stuart Arthur Robertson
1948 – 2024
Our hearts are deeply saddened by the loss of Stuart Robertson. He passed away peacefully at the age of 75 at PRHC on Saturday, March 23, 2024, with his family by his side.
Loving father of Amy Robertson (Andrew Lipscombe) and Sara Robertson (Mike Rowbotham) and beloved partner to Beth English. Stu will be greatly missed by his grandchildren, Olivia and Luke Lipscombe, and his grand dogs, Dixie, Johnny, and Monty. Stu will be fondly remembered by Beth’s daughters, Kelly Medhust (Al) and their children, Liam, Nolan, and Leo; Nikki English (Nick); and Arlene English (Juanfe).
Stu was predeceased by his parents, Alex and Agnus, and brother, Don. He was born on September 3, 1948, in Peterborough, and grew up in East City, where he had many adventures and made lifelong friendships.
He graduated from Adam Scott high school followed by Sir Sandford Fleming College. During his college years, he made many friendships that would last a lifetime. Those friends went on to make many memories together such as building the cabin, going hunting and fishing, and enjoying many laughs along the way. He was a dedicated and respected member of the hardwood lumber industry, having served many years at Peterborough and Beaver Lumber.
Stu cherished his daughters and loved spending time with them as they participated in their various sports and activities, took family trips to Patterson Kaye, and went on motorcycle rides. Stu was both a devoted and patient father, showing unconditional love and guidance, and providing a strong foundation from which his daughters built their lives.
He loved spending time with his family and friends, telling jokes, and reminiscing about years gone by. Stu “The Shoe,” a nickname he acquired for being a ringer in horseshoes, played many sports in his younger days and continued to follow them closely after being diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis in his early 40s. He also enjoyed the great outdoors and could often be found gardening, hunting, fishing, and taking drives in the country, often stopping to visit with friends.
Stu met his sweetheart, Beth, in 2003. They loved spending time together at Beth’s cottage, especially in the company of family and friends while going for boat rides and playing scrabble and cribbage.
His strength and courage never wavered and served him well as he faced health challenges, especially in recent years. Despite the challenges, he never complained and stayed strong until the very end. Stu will also be deeply missed by his extended family and the many close friends who will remember his contagious smile, warm presence and positive personality.
All are invited to join us at Ashburnham Funeral Home, 840 Armour Road, Peterborough, on Tuesday, April 2, 2024.
Visitation from 1 to 2 p.m.
Memorial service at 2 p.m.
Reception to follow the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Stu’s memory to the PRHC Foundation or the Peterborough Humane Society.
