It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Paul Langan O’Reilly on October 2, 2023 in his 80th year. Loving husband of Dorothy O’Reilly (nee. Kralik) for 55years and dear brother of Joe (Dianne), Kathleen (Keith) and Brian (Debbie). Beloved father of Damien (Amanda) and Melissa (Jason). He was a proud papa of Noah, Kaelan, Xavier, Dominique and Oliver. He always found joy in connecting with them, watching them grow and experience life through their lens.
Paul had many interests that he successfully pursued throughout his life. After attending St. Michael’s school in Toronto, he joined the Toronto Police force, where he proudly served for years before moving to Peterborough. It was in pursuing different business opportunities that he became a successful entrepreneur. Paul eventually followed his passion for cars, which led to the opening of Trans Canada Motors in 1971 and evolved over the years from Fiat, BMW, Honda and Datsun franchises, and eventually became the well established and multi-award winning dealership, Trans Canada Nissan.
Paul’s impeccable leadership and management style was always based on treating his employees as family. His customers were dear to him and he would provide a sincere persona that was second to none.
Paul was a devoted husband who adored his wife. Over the years, they leaned on each other as they grew their business and personal lives together, all while taking care of enjoying life through their many travels around the world. He also loved his children dearly and shared his energy, passion and enthusiasm for nature, the outdoors and especially for boating with them.
Paul was always a comforting presence to his family and lived his life to the fullest. Rest in Peace Paul. You are loved and will be missed but your spirit will live on in cherished memories of all those who had the privilege of knowing you.
A Memorial Mass will be held at the Cathedral of St. Peter-In-Chains (411 Reid Street, Peterborough), on Thursday October 12, 2023 at 10AM. A reception will follow at the Ashburnham Funeral Home (840 Armour Road) from 11AM – 1PM. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Alzheimer’s Society (alzfdn.org/donate) would be appreciated.
