Margaret Ann (Rutherford) Hildenbrand – January 24, 1937 – September 20, 2024
Just as in life, Mom entered into eternal life quietly and peacefully on Friday, September 20th at Fairhaven Long term Care Home with family by her side.
The words sweet, gentle, kind, quiet come to mind when describing Mom, but to many, she was so much more. Born and raised in Peterborough, Mom grew up in a loving home with her parents and 5 siblings. Her devotion to her faith and her loving and nurturing heart led to a career as a VON for Red Cross where she impacted many lives – with dignity and compassion. So often we would hear from family members of the men and women that mom would look after – letting us know how grateful they were for the care and kindness their loved one had received from mom.
Mom’s greatest love was her family and her grandchildren, never missing a birthday, anniversary or sporting event. She was always involved and present in our lives. She may have been quiet in her words but she spoke volumes with her heart and her actions. Mom’s legacy is that she was always thinking of and helping others.
Beloved wife of the late Robert (Bob) Hildenbrand (2007). Cherished mother of Laurie McIsaac (Kelly), Rob (Kathy), and Peter (Pam).
Proud Nana to Lucas Hildenbrand(Emily), Nick Hildenbrand (Bailey), Ella and Gaby Hildenbrand. Proud Great Nana to Bennett and Walker Hildenbrand.
Loving daughter of the late George and Helen Rutherford – Dear sister of the late Cathy Ferguson (late Stewart), the late Christine (Dee Dee), Helen Plager (the late Barclay), the late Jim Rutherford (Eileen), the late Mike Rutherford (Pat). She leaves behind many wonderful nieces and nephews.
While we are grieving the loss of our mom, we are choosing to remember her in a way that honours her spirit.
There will be a Celebration of Margaret’s Life held at the HIGHLAND PARK FUNERAL CENTRE 2510 Bensfort Rd., Peterborough on Friday, September 27, 2024 from 3:30-5:30 PM to hear stories, share memories and reflect on the wonderful person she was.
