Kelly Richard Smith, a beloved and cherished individual, was born on October 11, 1956, in Newmarket, Ontario. It is with heavy hearts that we announce his passing on January 20, 2024, in Peterborough. Kelly’s life was filled with love, joy, and countless fond memories that will forever be treasured.
Kelly was born to his loving parents, Jack (2021) and Betty (2010), who provided him with a nurturing and supportive upbringing. He was preceded in death by his dear brother, Rick, in 2008, and his sister, Wendy, who passed away in 1949.
Kelly is survived by his wife, Connie, who stood by his side through thick and thin. His children, Ryan (Caryn) and Sasha (Zoltan), were the pride and joy of his life. He loved them unconditionally and cherished every moment spent with them. Kelly’s laughter and love will forever resonate in the hearts of his grandchildren, Ava, Aiden, and Laurel, and his niece Tarra. He also leaves behind his siblings, Rod (Sherry) and Tracy (David).
In his leisure time, Kelly was a dedicated sports lover. He excelled in playing competitive soccer and hockey during his earlier years. Later on, he found solace and joy on the golf course, where he shared laughs and camaraderie with friends. Some of his happiest moments were spent relaxing at the cottage, surrounded by nature’s beauty, and creating lasting memories with loved ones.
Kelly was known for his fun-loving nature and easy-going personality. He had a way of making people feel at ease and was always there to lend a helping hand or a listening ear. Kelly’s kindness and compassion touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Never one to enjoy being in the spotlight, he requested there not be a service. Instead, he hopes that his friends and family can raise a glass in his honour while sharing stories of how. Kelly touched their lives.
