Obituary
Joseph (Joe) John Roy Humenick (born February 19, 1956), lost his battle with ALS on September 21, 2023, at age 67. He fought courageously and selflessly, as he faced an impossible illness. He passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, at Peterborough Regional Health Sciences Centre.
Joe will be forever loved, remembered and missed by his wife of 42 years, Carol; his daughters: Melissa and Ashleigh (Ryan); his grandchildren: Riley, Liam and Olivia; sisters: Janet (Jack), Diane, Gloria; as well as numerous relatives and friends.
He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph Sr. and Ellen, and his sister Trudy.
Joe touched a lot of lives in every way that he lived. During his award-winning career in financial services, spanning more than four decades, Joe was highly regarded as a leader, mentor and a friend to many. As a passionate (semi-professional) fisherman, forever looking to land “The Big One,” he was well known in the community for his talent, sportsmanship, and the way he generously gave back to young anglers. In his down time, Joe loved to work on the farm, tending to the animals and keeping an immaculate vegetable garden.
His biggest impact, however, was his role as patriarch to his family. As an incredibly loving and devoted son, husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle, Joe was immensely proud of his family. He was a gentle giant, giving the biggest, warmest bear-hugs. With wisdom, and often humour, he would unwaveringly lend an ear, offer advice and support to those he loved. Joe, full of light and laughter, was always the life of any gathering.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 1:30 – 4:30pm, on Sunday, October 1st, at the Codrington Community Centre (2992 County Road 30, Codrington, On).

They all brought light into a difficult time, and we are forever grateful.
