Glenn Ross Obituary
After showing stoic strength and resilience throughout his long battle with Cancer, Glenn peacefully passed away at Hospice Peterborough, Tuesday night September 24, 2024, his son by his side.
Glenn was born in Richmond Hill to the late George Irving (Irv) and Margaret (Peggy) Ross. He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years Carol Lee (nee Gibson) and his beloved son Kenneth Ross (Sarah). Treasured brother of Linda Morrison (Terry) and his twin sister Glenna Ross (Ken). Cherished lifelong friend of Les, Judy, Chris, Dakota (Brianna) and Mitch Grant. Cousin of Marilyn and Ron Serink. Uncle to Stacey (Ryan), Sherri, Michelle, Neana & Andrew. Great Uncle of Liam, Ciara & Konnor.
Dear brother-in-law of Mary Mackay (late Karl), loving Uncle of Robert (Jenny) Mackay and Katie (Mitch) Baldwin, Great Uncle to Ben, Ethan, Evi and Emma.
Glenn also received much love and support from Sue (late Tom) Jones and her family (special mention to Rob Jones) as well as Shirley Houlden, Tom Gibson, Ron (Debbie)Thomas, Jim (Betty)Thomas and Doug (Linda) Wellman. He also had the support of many devoted friends and neighbours throughout his life.
Glenn was a dedicated worker since the age of 18 and spent 47 plus years as a professional long haul truck driver. He was a devoted son, husband, father and friend who was always willing to lend a hand. He had many cherished memories at the trailer and later at the cottage on Weslemkoon Lake with family and friends. Glenn had many hobbies, one of which was his love of gardening, he could never have enough flowers. Glenn was a life long Toronto Maple Leafs fan, even though they failed him year after year. He had a love of dogs (Prince, Tiny, Buddy, Christie and Wall-E) and he always enjoyed a relaxing evening watching a good TV show or movie.
A special thank you to the exceptional Dr. Ali Morelli who went above and beyond to care for Glenn both at home, in hospital, and Hospice. We also want to thank Dr. Chandhoke, Dr. Bloomfield and Dr. Webster and for their dedication and expertise in caring for Glenn including the wonderful staff of the Palliative Care Unit of PRHC, Hospice Peterborough and the Homecare Staff of PSWs including Taylor and Jennifer.
Visitation with take place at Highland Park Cemetery on Wednesday, October 2, 2024 from 5:00-8:00pm. Funeral service on Thursday, October 3, 2024 at 2:30pm followed by burial at Little Lake Cemetery. Reception following at Highland Park.
Donations in memory of Glenn may be made to PRHC Foundation, Hospice Peterborough or to the Canadian Cancer Society.
