It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gerald “Gerry” Charles Mason on June 12, surrounded by loved ones at the Peterborough Regional Health Centre after a courageous battle with cancer.
Beloved spouse to Kim Ahern of 18 years. Loving and cherished father to Christopher (Kristine Jackson), Carley (James Walker) and Hannah (Jake DeJager) and loving step father to Sarah Morris (Michael Bennett), Braeden Morris (Marissa Short), and Amanda Morris (Joseph Da Silva). Proud grandpa to Ella, Evelyn, and Kai. Predeceased by his loving parents Eileen and George Mason, and predeceased by his sister Marianne. Gerry will be sadly missed by many especially the Ahern family and his many friends including the Penn Brothers and his forest golfing family.
Gerry was enthusiastic about the game of golf. A CGTF teaching professional for 19 years. Gerry enjoyed teaching various golf programs and lessons at Liftlock Golf Course and currently of Keystone. He was passionate about the game and was always excited to share that joy with others. His favourite being growing the game for youth which was seen through his dedication to various kids camps and the First Tee Ontario program. He was very proud to be a caddy on the Korn Ferry Tour (formerly Web.com Tour) in 2016 to a few players who are now currently on the PGA Tour and have become friends to Gerry through that tour experience.
Gerry was very dedicated to his work. His time at Trent University in the grounds department and passionate work with the union was unmatched. This made for an easy transition after his retirement into his recent work as a Superintendent for TVM Group. He was happy to take on any task, always making sure it was done perfectly, nothing stood in Gerry’s way.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Palliative Care Team at the PRHC for the kindness and compassionate care provided to Gerry.
