David Black Obituary
BLACK, David Robert James
Husband. Father. Best Friend. Brother. It is with the heaviest of hearts that our family announces the passing of Dave on September 5th, 2024, after a lengthy and courageous battle with MS and in later years a brain tumour. He is survived by his wife, Sandy, and the two children he absolutely cherished, Tara and Grant. Dave was a long-time elementary school principal with the Durham District School Board and before that as a teacher. He impacted many during his long career and took great pride in mentoring others who chose careers in education. Dave also coached many teams over the years, starting at an early age by helping his Dad coach hockey, and then moving on to teams within his schools. His greatest coaching feat would come years later however when he would coach our young kids at triathlon, counting off the lengths in our pool and biking beside them as they ran laps around our neighbourhood. Our time with him was not nearly long enough, and he will be greatly missed. Rest easy sweet man. Visitation will be held at the HIGHLAND PARK FUNERAL CENTRE, 2510 Bensfort Rd., Peterborough on Sunday September 8th, 2024 from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. and 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. A Memorial Service will take place in the Highland Park Chapel on Monday September 9th, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. with a reception to follow.
