David Randolph Hobbs, 69, of Peterborough, Ontario, passed away on June 4, 2024.
David was born on January 11, 1955, in Toronto, Ontario, to Henry William Gordon Hobbs and Margaret Elizabeth Graham (McMillian). He grew up in Toronto and graduated from W. A. Porter Collegiate Institute. David pursued a career with the Canadian Customs and Revenue Agency and later joined the Canada Border Services Agency, dedicating 35½ years of service. He was well-known for his expertise and commitment.
David is survived by his loving partner of 14 years, Karen Margaret Vanblitterswyk, who cared for him dearly until his passing. He leaves behind a lasting legacy with his five children: Nicole Jean Dobson, Cheryl Lee Hobbs, Matthew William Douglas Hobbs, Alexander Nevin Hobbs, and Luke Austin Hobbs. He was a proud grandfather to Aliyah, Taylor, Noah, Christian, KiAnna, Benjamin, and Levi.
David had a passion for his work at CBSA and also loved taking martial arts classes in Gōjū-ryū, where he earned his brown belt. He was known for his love of music, dancing, and storytelling about his experiences at work. Additionally, David was a dedicated member of the Royal Canadian Legion in Ajax (Branch 322), where he participated in many parades to commemorate fallen soldiers in Canada.
A celebration of David’s life will be held on June 29, 2024, at 1:00 PM at the Royal Canadian Legion in Ajax, Branch 322, located at 111 Hunt St., Ajax, ON L1S 1P3.
