WYSLOUZIL, Dagobert Maria “Bert”
1925 – 2024
Dagobert Maria “Bert” Wyslouzil died peacefully March 9th, 2024 at age 98 in Peterborough, Ontario. Bert was born on August 1st, 1925 in Kitzbuehel, Austria to Edmund and Emelie (Kropsch) Wyslouzil. He attended the University of Innsbruck where he met the love of his life Eleonore “Lore” Triebnig in their Chemistry lab. Bert and his brother John emigrated to Canada in 1951, followed by Lore in 1952, and they married on November 11th, 1952 in Ottawa. They moved to Peterborough in the late 1950s, where Bert had a long, successful career at Lakefield Research before retiring as its managing director. He enjoyed tennis, going to the Y, and was actively involved in the local classical music scene, both playing and teaching the cello. He and Lore enjoyed many long summers at their cottage, teaching his children, grandchildren and their friends to fish, whittle, and mix cement, since the work at a cottage is never done. Bert will be remembered for his quiet brilliance, humor, kindness and artistic abilities.
Bert is survived by his wife Lore, and their three children, Christine, Harold and Barbara, their spouses, 6 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren.
There will be a private service, Thursday March 14th, at Little Lake Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Bert’s name to the Peterborough Family Y or the Peterborough Regional Health Center.
