LEDDY, Carl Joseph May 25,1927-August 13,2024
Carl was the Engineer on the last VIA Rail Run from Toronto to Peterborough in 1990. He retired from the Canadian Pacific Railway after 46 Years of service. In the beginning of his career, he operated steam engines and always had fascinating stories of being on the road.
Co-founder of the Ennismore first chapter of AA. Helped many people and made lifetime friends. He loved and called Ennismore home. His mother was raised there and his great-great grandmother is buried in the first cemetery. Carl purchased a cottage on Chemong Lake in 1955 and then resided full time in 1972. Always had a story about the colorful characters that Ennismore raised.
Predeceased by his wife Elenore (1983), sister Audrey Leddy (2005), sister Helen Colburn (2012)
Survived by his son Joe Leddy, his wife Lorraine and her daughter Carolyn, son Bob and daughter Monica. His brother Don Leddy, sisters Joan Maizis and Ruth Leddy.
Grandchildren, Carl JR, Christine, Lauren, Daniel, Kathleen, Carleanne, Colleen, Johnathan, William, Benjamim and Jude. Great children Nick, Jolene, Jack. Julie and Brooke.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Carl’s Memorial Mass in St. Martin of Tour’s Church, Ennismore on Wednesday, August 28,2024 at 11:00am. Interment St. Martin’s Cemetery followed by a light luncheon in the Parish Hall. In memory of Carl, donations to the Ennismore Horticultural Society would be appreciated by his family.
