Passed away peacefully, with the love of her family surrounding her, on Monday, December 30, 2024 at the age of 81 years.
Joyce Moore-Cowan (nee Griffith) of Pembroke, dearly loved wife of Peter Cowan. Mother of Christine Bibic, Kingston; Jennifer Sequillion (Fred), Ottawa; and Julie Occleshaw (Steve), Langley, B.C. Dearly loved by Peter’s children: Ted Cowan (Belinda), Singapore; Chris Cowan (Teresa), Pembroke; and Scott Cowan (Kathy), Ottawa. Grandmother to Jordan Gautreau (Zac), Sydney Peterson (Coulter), Josh Sequillion (Danielle) & Cole Sequillion; Owen & Griffin Occleshaw; Jackson & Jaime Cowan; Anna & Cooper Cowan; and Kailyn, Ella & Marley Cowan. Great-grandmother of Mackenzie. Daughter of the late Clarence and Agnes Griffith (nee Furlong). Predeceased by siblings June Fischer (late Dick), Shirley Johnston (late Chris), and Ron Griffith.
Being born and raised in Pembroke, Joyce was a familiar face in the community as a faithful member of Holy Trinity Anglican Church, the founder of the Pembroke Musical Society, along with teaching vocal music, dance, figure skating, and majorettes, a City of Pembroke Alderman for several terms, and a 2-term president and dedicated member of the Kiwanis Club.
Visitation will be held at the Malcolm, Deavitt & Binhammer Funeral Home, 141 Renfrew St., Pembroke on Friday, January 3, 2025, from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday, January 4, 2025, from 12:30 – 1:30 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held at Holy Trinity Anglican Church, 68 Renfrew St., Pembroke on Saturday, January 4, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. The service will be available virtually through Valley Anglicans. Interment in Holy Trinity Anglican Cemetery, Pembroke. An expression of sympathy, donations to the Pembroke Kiwanis Club would be appreciated.
