Richard James (Ric) Murphy.
Born October 3, 1948, died September 25, 2023 after a brief battle with cancer.
Son of Jim & Kathleen Murphy, much loved partner of Susan Murphy (nee Buck).
Ric was born & lived in Owen Sound until his family moved to Port Credit when he was twelve years old. He loved both communities and often returned to vacation at nearby Sauble Beach.
Drawn by his love of Georgian Bay, Ric moved to Snug Harbour in the mid 1970’s and never looked back.
He was a man of few words with a great sense of humour. Kids and dogs were drawn to him. Those who recognized his inner depth saw the twinkle beneath the often-silent exterior and recognized his loyalty to true friends.
Ric will be very missed by family & friends.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, October 28 at Carling Community Centre, from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m..
If you choose to remember Ric with a donation, he was very interested in Newfoundland pony rescue. These ponies, which are endangered, are described as “strong, brave & endlessly forgiving”. Two worthwhile non-profit organizations are: Newfoundland Pony Society , St. John’s Newfoundland (newfoundlandpony.com/) and Willow Creek Stable, Perth Ontario (willowcreekstables.ca).
