Alexander Kenneth Stewart passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones, at Lakeland Long Term Care on Saturday, January 27th, 2024, in his 80th year.
Beloved husband of Carol (nee Robb) Stewart for 52 years. Loving father of Suzanne (Steve) Fontanna; and Dianne (Sean) Stuart. Adored Grandad to Karoline, Jackson, Ethan and Sadie. Dear brother of Cathleen (Noel) Muldoon and Rick (Dawn) Stewart. Beloved uncle to thirteen nieces and nephews.
Sandy will be fondly remembered by his family and friends for his adventurous spirit, kindness, sense of humour, quick wit, curiosity, and easy-going nature. He was an avid reader of exclusively non-fiction books, a diehard Buddy Holly fan and a music enthusiast with an unwavering appreciation for the sound quality of vinyl records. His breadth of knowledge on many subjects, most notably mechanics, history, and politics, meant you better get comfortable if you asked him a question; you were going to be there a while. Often ahead of his time, he lived life on his own terms with enthusiasm, creativity, and a relentless drive for unconventional innovation. Finally, we cannot forget his passion for waterskiing, his unwavering love and commitment to his family and because he never took life too seriously, his need for just a little tomfoolery.
As was Sandy’s wish, cremation has taken place. A celebration of life is planned for August 2024.
