James ‘Jim”s Obituary
A life well-lived – Jim passed away peacefully at the age of 93 years surrounded by his family.
Beloved husband of Vera (Martin) for 71 years. Dear father of Linda (Paul), Patti, Susan (Steven) and James. Cherished grandpa of Fran, Devin, Brin, Kahlan, and great grandpa of Samantha, Justin, Ruby and Riot. He will be missed by the extended Morton, Martin and McKnight families, as well as dear friends from Glen Morris, Telfer Place, Paris and beyond.
Predeceased by parents Bill (William G.) and Francis (Miller), brother Pete (George W.), and sister Elizabeth (Ariss).
James (known as Jim) farmed the heritage acreage on West River Road for most of 70 years in partnership with his brother Pete Morton of Glen Morris. His favourite colour was John Deere green. He was a long-time member and elder of the Glen Morris church. In retirement he particularly enjoyed crop tours with friend John Gillespie, watching many sports on TV, reading the newspaper, “meetings” at the coffee shop, playing cards, visiting neighbouring farmers, relaxing with his favourite cat (there were many over the years), and family gatherings.
The family extends their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Brantford General, the Willett, and Telfer LTC for their care and compassion.
Funeral arrangements entrusted to the Dwayne D. Budgell Funeral Home. In accordance with Jim’s expressed wishes, cremation has already taken place. A private service will be held at the family’s request. Should you wish to do so, an honorary donation to either the Glen Morris church or the Cemetery Board at Glen Morris would be appreciated.
