Linda DeBoer Obituary
Passed away suddenly as a result of a motor vehicle collision on Thursday, November 21, 2024. Born in Owen Sound on Friday, June 24, 1966, Linda Joyce DeBoer (nee Heyns) of Shallow Lake was in her 59th year.
Beloved wife and best friend of Bruce DeBoer for 34 years. Proud mother of Lisa Vanderwoerd and her husband Graham, David DeBoer and his wife Mariah, William DeBoer and his partner Amanda Hermans. Cherished grandmother of Aria and one on the way. Dear sister of Shirley Visser (Phil), Fred Heyns (Helen), Rob Heyns (Brenda), Glenda Kapteyn (Calvin), and Brenda Hummel. Survived by her mother-in-law Corrie DeBoer. Linda will also be missed by her many nieces, nephews and friends.
Predeceased by her parents Bill and Coby Heyns, her dear brother-in-law Wayne Hummel, and her father-in-law Arend DeBoer.
Linda lived each day to the fullest, sharing her love, faith, and talents with all those around her. She devoted 25 years to youth ministry, touching the lives of many. One of her passions was mentoring youth on SERVE mission projects, striving to encourage their Christian walk. She had an amazing eye for decorating and floral design. She blessed countless people with her gifts, both within her church and abroad as she decorated for special events and weddings. She had a heart for hospitality and served family, friends, and strangers with open arms and an unwavering spirit. Despite her busy schedule, she always showed that her true love was her family and would do anything for them. She was dearly loved by all and will be forever missed.
Visitation will be held at Brian E. Wood Funeral Home, 250 14th Street West, Owen Sound, 519-376-7492 on Tuesday, November 26, 2024 from 2-4 p.m. and from 7-9 p.m. A funeral service to celebrate Linda’s life will be held at the First Christian Reformed Church, 201 4th Avenue West, Owen Sound, on Wednesday, November 27, 2024 at 11 a.m., with Pastor Sid Couperus officiating, followed by a reception at the church.
