Marie-Joséphine Yanic Péan d’Ottawa, Ontario, est décédée paisiblement le samedi 8 juin 2024 entourée de sa famille bien-aimée.
Yanic est née à Fort-Liberté, Haïti, de Beaufort et Marguerite Péan. Elle a grandi au Cap-Haïtien et a immigré à Saint-Boniface, Manitoba, où elle a obtenu son diplôme du Collège secondaire de Saint-Boniface. Elle a ensuite fréquenté l’Université du Manitoba pour obtenir son baccalauréat en chimie, puis son diplôme en pharmacie de la même université.
Après avoir obtenu son diplôme, Yanic a poursuivi une carrière de pharmacienne à Ottawa, travaillant pour l’Hôpital Montfort pendant plus de 25 ans. Elle a ensuite terminé sa carrière à la pharmacie Jean Coutu à Orléans. Yanic était extrêmement passionnée par sa profession et partageait généreusement ses connaissances avec tous ceux qui cherchaient des conseils médicaux.
Yanic aimait organiser de grandes réunions familiales, danser, chanter, voyager, jouer au golf. Elle s’intéressait à l’homéopathie et aux médecines alternatives, et passait beaucoup de temps avec ses proches. Elle sera toujours rappelée pour sa passion à servir et à aider les autres grâce à ses connaissances médicales, son rire tonitruant, son amour pour le café, sa soif insatiable de vie, son énergie contagieuse et stimulante. Elle manquera profondément à tous ceux qui l’ont connue.
Yanic laisse dans le deuil ses sœurs, Chantal et Myriam Péan, son beau-frère Edzer Charles, sa nièce Mélissa Charles, son neveu par alliance Matthew Shirvan, ses tantes, oncles, cousins et cousines.
Un service funéraire aura lieu à 10h30 le mardi 18 juin au Complexe Funéraire Heritage. Les visites auront lieu le même jour et au même endroit, à partir de 9h30.

Marie-Josephine Yanic Péan of Ottawa, Ontario, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 8, 2024 surrounded by her beloved family.
Yanic was born in Fort-Liberté, Haiti to Beaufort and Marguerite Péan. She grew up in Cap-Haitien and immigrated to Saint-Boniface, Manitoba to graduate from Le College secondaire de Saint-Boniface. She then went on to attend the University of Manitoba for her Bachelor of Science (Chemistry) to then earned her Pharmacy degree from the same university.
After graduation, Yanic pursued a career as a pharmacist in Ottawa, working for the Montfort Hospital for more than 25 years. She then finished her career at Jean Coutu Pharmacy in Orleans. Yanic was extremely passionate about her profession and generously provided her knowledge to all those who seeked medical advice.
Yanic enjoyed hosting large gatherings for her family, travelling, golfing, learning about homoeopathy and alternative medicines and spending quality time with her loved ones. She will be remembered for her passion to serve and help others through her medical knowledge, her boisterous laugh, her love for coffee, her insatiable thirst for life, her contagious uplifting energy. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Yanic is survived by her sisters, Chantal and Myriam Péan, her brother-in-law Edzer Charles, her niece Melissa Charles, her nephew-in-law Matthew Shirvan, her aunts, uncles and cousins.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 18 at Heritage Funeral Complex. Visitation will be held on the same day and location, starting at 9:30 a.m.
