Peacefully on Wednesday, August 7, Teresa Wai-Oi Chow (née Wong) passed away at age 84. Beloved wife of Andrew Chow, her husband of 60 years. Loving mother of Garmon Chow (Susan Hum), Ivy Chow (Peter Au), and Ida Tsui (Raymond Tsui).
Devoted grandmother to Maddie, Kara, and Lauren Chow; Matthew and Emily Au; and Kaitlyn Tsui. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Born in Hoiping, Guangdong, China, on November 9, 1939, Teresa spent her early childhood years there until she and her family moved to Hong Kong, where she spent many happy years. Teresa came to Canada in 1964 and married shortly after. After living in Ottawa for over 40 years, raising three children as well as owning and managing restaurants with her husband, she retired to Mississauga to be closer with some of her grandchildren. In her later years, she enjoyed socializing with friends and participating at church.
However, Teresa’s greatest joy was in her family. She especially took pride in her grandchildren, whom she adored.
Family and friends are invited to visit at the St. Laurent Chapel 1200 Ogilvie Road, (at Aviation Parkway) Ottawa, on Friday, August 16, 2024 from 5 to 8 p.m.
The funeral service will be held in the Chapel on Saturday, August 17, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. Interment Beechwood Cemetery.
