He passed away peacefully at the age of 83 at St. Patrick’s Home of Ottawa.
He was born on December 31st, 1940 in Malout, Punjab, India to parents Jai Lal and Jamuna Devi (predeceased). He is survived by his wife Bala, his daughter Sabreena (Rory), his son Ashwin (Katerie), his grandsons Kavi and Haren, his brothers Ramesh (Sunita) and Abnash, and sister Sudarshan.
After completing his Bachelor’s degree and first Master’s Degree at Punjab University in India, he moved to Hamilton, Ontario to undertake a second Master’s Degree in Applied Chemistry at McMaster University. He held a long, illustrious career as a scientist, R&D director, policy developer and administrator with the Government of Canada, during which time he also completed a Master’s in Business Administration at the University of Ottawa. He holds international patents and licensed them to several international companies, and published many scientific articles and chaired conferences. He received a large Technology Development Award from the Government of Canada for his scientific achievements.
After retiring from the government, he pursued a second career as an independent financial advisor, and managed a highly successful fund. He was also actively involved with charitable organizations.
Though he is remembered for being an accomplished, hard-working intellectual, Subhash was also well loved for his jovial nature, mischievous playfulness and special affinity for monkeys.
He took great pleasure in food, with particular love for traditional, home-cooked Indian dishes, and Szechuan cuisine. He loved nature and fine art. Most importantly, he will be remembered as a loving father, husband, grandfather, son, brother and uncle who selflessly worked to help others achieve success.
He will be forever loved and cherished, and he will be missed tremendously.
