In Memory of Ronald Saper
1964 – 2024
12/07/2024
A bright light was extinguished when Ronald (Ron) Harris Saper, surrounded by family, passed away peacefully on July 12th, 2024, after a difficult battle with cancer. He is survived by the love of his life and wife, Celine Goyette, his children Alec and Katelyn Saper, his mother Satomi Pat Saper (late father, Arnold Saper), and siblings Zalman Saper (Dana Kripp), Michelle Saper, James Saper (Julia Stauffer). He is survived by relatives on the Saper and Hirayama sides of his family. He will be missed by many colleagues and friends.
Ron was known for his creativity, exuberance, kindness, determination, being sharp-witted, avid learner, and deeply valuing inclusivity. Ron was most proud of his kids Alec and Katelyn, whom he adored. He loved with an open heart and was deeply loved in return. He was an incredible person, a wonderful husband, father, son and brother.
As he once said while working on a puzzle, you are aware of the missing pieces. He is our missing piece. We will miss him terribly and always remember him.
A Celebration of Life will take place at Heritage Funeral Complex, 1250 Trim Road, Orleans, on Saturday, November 16th, 2024 at 1pm. Visitation with the family will begin at 12:30 pm.
He was passionate about making music and had a great talent for songwriting. He enjoyed singing and playing guitar at open mic events in Ottawa and elsewhere. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks donations be made to Hospice Care Ottawa, where Ron enjoyed playing guitar when he attended the Day Program at the Maycourt Site.
