It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Richard David Tremblay, beloved father, brother, musician, and friend. Richard passed away on October 12, 2024, at the age of 65, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Ottawa on September 15, 1959, Richard was the son of the late Louis and Joyce Tremblay (née Lusk). He is predeceased by his cherished wife, Fernanda, and is survived by his beloved son, Ricardo (“Ricky”). Richard will be deeply missed by his siblings Michael, Barry, and Susan (Stefan Van Kessel), along with his extended family and friends.
A talented guitarist, Richard was a proud member of the band Galleon, where he shared his passion for music with those around him. His career spanned years of service at the Ottawa Citizen, where he was known for his dedication and strong work ethic. Richard’s life took a new turn when he met Fernanda and moved to Chile, where they built a life together and welcomed their son, Ricky.
Those who knew Richard will remember him for his kindness, sense of humor, and the joy he brought to every room he entered. His presence was larger than life, and his memory will live on through the music he loved, the family he cherished, and the many lives he touched.
The family invites friends and loved ones to a visitation at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street, Ottawa, on Sunday, October 20th at 12:00 p.m., followed by a funeral service in the Chapel at 1:00 p.m. Please click here to access the livestream link of the service.
