In Memory of Jennifer Natalie Marie Critchley
1974-2024
02/07/2024
Jennifer Natalie Marie Critchley, an extraordinary woman who battled cancer like a true champion for over two years, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 2nd, 2024, surrounded by her beloved family. Her final moments were a testament to her enduring spirit, as she remained funny, witty, and sarcastic until just hours before she took her last breath. Jennifer was comforted by her faith, knowing that Jesus was there to take her home. She found solace in the thought of being reunited with Him, as well as with family members and friends who had gone before her.
Born and raised in Ottawa, Ontario, Jennifer was a vibrant soul who loved life and all its adventures. She had a remarkable talent for all things crafty, including baking and cooking. Jennifer found joy in helping others and thrived at family gatherings, where everyone enjoyed each other’s company and helped create cherished memories for all.
Jennifer is survived by her loving mother, Simone Critchley, and her devoted fiance of over 20 years, Paul Maynard. She was a dedicated mother to her two biological sons, Dylan Critchley (girlfriend Kelly) and Matthew Critchley (girlfriend Jessica), and to her partner’s sons, whom she adored like her own, Braeden Lunman (girlfriend Kristen) and Bailey Maynard (girlfriend Sarah). Jennifer also leaves behind her younger sister, Renee Critchley-Peters, her brother-in-law, Julian Peters, and her two nephews, Khairel Peters and Kallan Peters, whom she thoroughly cherished. In addition, her new puppy, Spike, brought her immense joy as her furry grandbaby.
Jennifer was predeceased by her father, Martin Critchley, whose memory and humorous spirit she carried with her throughout her life.
Jennifer had a passion for travel. Although her life was too short to visit all the places she dreamed of, she treasured the amazing destinations she did reach, such as cottages, Morrisburg, Las Vegas, and especially the sunny, beachy paradises of Jamaica and Cuba. These trips were filled with laughter and unforgettable moments.
Before Jennifer passed, she created a team once again this year for the “Ovarian Cancer Canada Walk of Hope” taking place on Sunday, September 8th, 2024. To honour her courageous battle and to support the fight against this deadly disease, her family invites you to kindly donate, if you can, to “Team Jennie” at (secure.ovariancanada.org/site/SPageServer/?pagename=WalkofHope_splash_page). The money donated goes specifically toward ovarian cancer research. The family also welcomes you to walk alongside them as members of “Team Jennie” during the walk itself.
Jennifer’s legacy of love, laughter, and resilience will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten. Rest in peace, Jennifer.
A Service to honour Jennifer will be held on Tuesday, July 23rd, 2024, at 2:00 PM in the Chapel at Heritage Funeral Complex (1250 Trim Road, Ottawa Orléans, Ontario K4A 3P7). Following the Service, all are invited to gather for refreshments and light snacks at a Celebration of Life from 3 to 5PM in remembrance of our beloved Jennifer. We welcome you to join in sharing fond memories of our Jennie Pooh or to simply enjoy listening to others reminisce during this gathering.
