It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Helene Shumovsky at the age of 92. Helene passed away peacefully with her family by her side at the Montfort Hospital on Friday, December 1st, 2023.
Helene was predeceased by her husband, Theodore Shumovsky and her daughter, Natalie Shumovsky. She leaves behind her loving son Serge, Daughter-in-law Ragheda, grandchildren Christian, Alyssa, Sarah, Amaly and her great grandchild Claire.
Helene was born in Paris, France on February 21st, 1931 to parents Alexander and Maria
Tatarsky. She moved to Canada at the age of 26 to marry her husband Theodre with whom she stayed married to for 50 loving years. For Helene, her family came first but she still worked with great pride as a French Language teacher for the Ottawa School Board and as a treasury secretary for the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral in Ottawa.
She will be remembered by all that loved her as being a kind and generous person that had a passion for art, traveling and her beloved garden. She will always be missed and remembered by all that got to know her in her lifetime.
Friends and family are invited to visit the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street, Ottawa on Friday, December 8th from 6-8pm. Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, December 9th at 11am at Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street, Ottawa. Followed by a short reception.
