Obituary of Francesco Guella
In loving memory of Francesco Guella who passed away peacefully surrounded by family at Villa Marconi on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, at the age of 92. Cherished husband of Caterina for 63 beautiful years; dear father of Teresa (Brian), Emanuele (Elvira), and Roberto (Sabrina); beloved grandfather of Christopher (Carla), Katie (Alex), Giuliana, Nicholas, and Franklin; and new great-grandfather to baby Emmett. Predeceased by parents Antonino and Teresa, son Nino, brother Tomasso, and sister-in-law Gaetana. Francesco also leaves to mourn many extended family members in Canada, the USA, and Italy.
Francesco is remembered as a man for whom family came first and foremost. He enjoyed Sunday dinners with his family surrounded by love, laughter, the fruits of his gardening, and a hearty glass (or two) of homemade wine. He leaves for his family an extraordinary legacy of a life well-lived with honour, integrity, and resilience. Francesco was a hardworking man, spending much of his adult life working in bakeries. He would come home in the evenings exhausted, but he never complained, content to support his loving wife and children with honest work.
Dad, we will never forget the lessons you have taught us to work hard and to treat others the way you would want to be treated, always, even when it’s not easy.
Family and friends may pay respect at Pinecrest Visitation Centre, 2500 Baseline Rd, Ottawa, Ontario on Wednesday, September 18, 2024 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Funeral Mass will be held at Madonna della Risurrezione, 1621 Fisher Avenue, on Thursday, September 19, 2024 at 11:00 a.m., followed by entombment at Pinecrest Cemetery.
A special thank you to the staff at Villa Marconi for their love and care of Francesco during his final days. In memory of Francesco, donations may be made to Villa Marconi .
