The family wishes to announce the passing of Ellen, aged ninety-four, on Wednesday, October 2nd, 2024. Beloved wife of the late Vincent R. Berlinguette of Ottawa. Beloved daughter of the late Arthur P. and the late Aline D. (Sayer) Nugent of Montreal. Dear sister of the late John “Jack” (Elma) Nugent of Montreal and Toronto. Ellen leaves behind her stepdaughter Suzanne (Claude Lanouette), her stepsons Paul (Claudine) and Marc (Denise), and their families.
Loving aunt to John (Fiona) and the late Michael Nugent. Great-aunt to Bronwen Nugent. Survived by her cousin Peter Nugent of Montreal and her niece Lynne Lalonde (Peter Rock) of Ottawa.
During the active part of her life, Ellen shared her passion for art, music and travel with many friends at the National Gallery of Canada and the National Arts Centre. Ellen spent many enjoyable summers with Vincent at their beloved cottage in the Gatineau Hills. Ellen also leaves behind a special group of neighbours.
Special thanks to the caregivers and staff at the Courtyards on Eagleson for their loving care and kind attention during Ellen’s brief stay at the residence.
Friends and family may gather at Resurrection of Our Lord Roman Catholic Church, 1940 Saunderson Drive, Ottawa on Thursday, October 17, 2024 for a memorial mass at 12:30pm followed by a reception in the church hall.
Donations in memory of Ellen may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada, the Alzheimer Society of Ottawa, or to a charity of your choice.
