Passed away at the age of 65 with the love of his life Brenda, and his mom at his side at the Ottawa Hospital, after a six-year battle with cancer. David was courageous and positive in the face of his diagnosis, continuing to laugh often and enjoy driving his beloved Ford Mustang, attending Red Blacks games, and watching his favorite teams, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the Dallas Cowboys. David retired from a thirty-eight-year career with Bell Canada. David is survived by his mother, Edith Nezan, and his wife, Brenda Dunlop as well as his nephew, Ben, and his niece, Gillian. David is predeceased by his father, Benedictine O’Brien, his stepfather Gerry Nezan, and his sister, Margaret O’Brien. Special thank you to Dr. Ong and his team at the Ottawa Hospital for their compassionate care and for giving David the gift of more time with us. Donations in David’s name can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute.
A funeral service will be held at the St. Laurent Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 1200 Ogilvie Road at Aviation Parkway, on Saturday, November 4, 2023, at 11:00 a.m.
