Died peacefully at the QCH on October 16th, 2024. Dan leaves behind his dear wife of 55 years, Susan, his children Steven (Sarah), Jodi, his 3 grandchildren, Zoe, Sidney and Avery. Fury friends Gus and Anna. Brother to Sharon, Bob (Debbie) the late Tom (Mary). Son of the late Stephen and Virginia Smith. Affectionately remembered by his cousins, nieces, great nieces, great nephews and neighbours.
Dan will be remembered for his wildly absurd sense of humour and his proclivity for ice cream, cowboy movies, manicured lawns and anything that needed engine oil.
Much appreciation for Dan’s GP, Dr. Jessie Li, and her 4 legged assistant, Dusty, the therapy dog, the vibrant and caring staff at Carefor’s Day Program, Barrhaven Manor for their kindness and warmth and for all of the dedicated staff who helped Dan in his last days at the QCH.
In lieu of flowers, donations to The Ottawa Heart Institute or to The Queensway Carleton Hospital would be appreciated.
Celebration of Dan’s life will be held in the spring.
