Cindy passed away peacefully at the Civic Hospital on September 30, 2024, in her 65th year. She was the beloved wife and best friend of Gerry Lewis, sharing a beautiful marriage of 44 years. Cindy was a loving mother to Gerald Lewis and Jessica Shaw and a cherished grandmother to Ayva, Keira, Sophie, and Daniel. She was the dear daughter of Helen York and the late Gilbert York, and a loving sister to William York, Bernard York, and Thomas York. Born in Ottawa, Ontario, Cindy found joy in traveling, photography, and stained glass, but nothing brought her greater happiness than being a grandmother. A kind and generous soul, Cindy’s warmth touched everyone around her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered. A visitation will be held at Hulse, Playfair & McGarry – West Chapel, 150 Woodroffe Avenue, Ottawa on Friday, October 4th, 2024 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm. A memorial mass will be held at St. Augustine Church, 1060 Baseline Road, Ottawa on Saturday, October 5th, 2024 at 10am followed by burial of the urn at Notre Dame Cemetery. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the caregiving staff at the Ottawa Hospital for the compassionate care they provided to Cindy in her final month.
