Obituary of Charles Burns
Charles “Wiff” Burns, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend to many, passed away peacefully on May 12th, 2024 in Ottawa with family by his side. Born in Truro, Nova Scotia on August 24, 1947 to Ray and Muriel (nee McLellan), Charles lived a life filled with love and dedication to his family and community.
Throughout his illustrious career of 30 years with the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF), Charles rose through the ranks to retire as a Warrant Officer. His commitment to service extended beyond retirement when he joined Costco where he greeted customers at the door with joy and warmth for many years.
In addition to his professional accomplishments, Charles was an avid traveler who found solace in exploring new places. However, nothing compared to the love he had for his pets – Harry and Megan the cats and Riley the beloved Pomeranian.
Charles is survived by his loving wife Carol; children Joanne (Peter), David, Donald (Stephanie), Angela; grandchildren Hannah, Addison and Owen; brother Brian (Lynn) of Truro, Nova Scotia; as well as numerous other relatives and friends who will miss him dearly.
A private service will be held with immediate family only.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude towards Dr. Stephen Chesine for providing endless care and support throughout Charles’ journey.
The loss of Wiff leaves an irreplaceable void in our hearts but we find comfort knowing that he touched so many lives during his time with us. His legacy of kindness and compassion will live on through those who were fortunate enough to have known him.
Rest peacefully Wiff – your memory will forever be cherished by all whose lives you’ve graced.
